Saudi Arabia's defence minister delivered a blunt message to Iranian officials in Tehran last month: take President Donald Trump's offer to negotiate a nuclear agreement seriously because it presents a way to avoid the risk of war with Israel.

Saudi Arabia, alarmed by regional instability, conveyed a message to Iran via Prince Khalid bin Salman, urging them to seriously consider Trump's offer for nuclear negotiations to avert potential conflict with Israel.

President Trump said he warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against any actions which could jeopardize peace talks with Iran. Trump said he told the Israeli leader that taking certain actions would be "inappropriate" at the time.
