The Atlanta Braves parted with two veterans who recently came to the organization with a level of intrigue for different reasons.

Even if Schwarber is almost exclusively a DH at this point, that shouldn’t deter the Braves from pursuing the 32-year-old slugger. He’s a proven lefty bat who is only getting better with age, and signing Schwarber takes him away from the Phillies’ lineup.

Waldrep made his MLB debut last season, and he was far from ready. He allowed 13 earned runs in just seven combined innings pitched over two starts. He then went on the injured list right before he was supposed to be optioned to Triple-A. Once he returned he pitched for Gwinnett the rest of the season having a 3.17 ERA in seven starts.

The team welcomed franchise ace Spencer Stride back from a second stint on the injured list on Tuesday. And although his performance wasn't what the team has grown accustomed to, with four earned runs in just over four innings, having him back in the rotation could be a winning catalyst.
