Democrats are turning their attention to the richest man in the world as a way to target Republicans and win back key voter groups.

The listless vessel that has been the Democratic Party finally found its bearings this week, honing in on a strategy that is largely focused not on attacking President Donald Trump, but rather Elon Musk. It’s not clear that it will fix Democrats’ many problems, but there are increasing signs and reasons to believe it could be a potent strategy.

Donald Trump bungled Elon Musk’s name once again on Monday. The president accidentally referred to the tech billionaire as “Leon.” Fox News aired the gaffe. It came as Trump signed an executive order to create a sovereign wealth fund and as he fielded a question on why Musk (who is leading the non-official Department of Government Efficiency’s drive to cut public spending) should have access to Treasury Department payment systems.
