Microsoft says it is laying off about 9,000 workers, its second mass layoff in months and its largest in more than two years.

Microsoft has laid off 228,000 employees across its entire company, forcing the cancellation of Rare's upcoming Everwild.

Microsoft has announced another major round of layoffs, cutting around 9,000 jobs across teams like Xbox, sales, and marketing. With this, over 15,000 employees have lost their jobs in 2025 alone, making it one of the company’s largest workforce reductions since 2023.
