Here we go again! We’re tracking more extreme heat here in Boston before cooler weather moves in just in time for the weekend. Whew! Wednesday afternoon, feels-like temperatures rose to 100 degrees at Logan Airport!

A heat advisory is in effect in Boston and several other Massachusetts communities through 7 p.m. on July 17. The National Weather Service warned of "dangerous heat and humidity" with heat indices soaring to 95 to 100 degrees. Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also declared a heat emergency for the City of Boston from July 16 to 18.

Boston faces a hot Thursday with a Heat Advisory; relief and cooler temperatures are expected after a cold front with potential rain and thunderstorms later in the day.

We’re on the way to brighter and hotter in the coming hours, as a new heat waves spurs. This will be the region’s third of the season. It’s not likely to be too sustained, and in fact may fall just short of the technical definition – three days with temperatures at or above 90 degrees.

Heat alerts extend nearly statewide with high dew points making it feel closer to the mid-90s or slightly higher across the region.
