A lot of it is a result of personnel, and Wisconsin has one of the best free throw shooters in the nation. Graduate guard John Tonje made 10 of 10 at the line Tuesday. In that game against the Wildcats earlier this season, he scored 21 of his 41 on 21-of-22 shooting at the free throw stripe.

Rating metrics hold their optimistic outlook for the Badgers after its win over a highly-ranked Buckeyes team. Wisconsin remains in the Big Ten’s top tier in both KenPom and ESPN BPI: KenPom: No. 21 overall (same ranking as it held after the Minnesota win) and No. 5 in the Big Ten, with the No. 12 offense and No. 50 defense in the country.

The Buckeyes shook off an ugly first half to make things very interesting in the final minutes, but the Badgers were the team that left the night with the victory.
