NJ Transit and the engineers union reached a tentative deal Sunday to end the strike, but trains are still not running until Tuesday.

Mr. Murphy declined to provide any details of the tentative agreement but said it was “fair to NJ Transit’s employees while also being affordable for our state’s commuters and taxpayers.”

Gov. Phil Murphy called the contract settlement “fair and fiscally responsible” with a “generous wage increase” for union members.
