A t least 66 people are dead in central Texas after devastating flash floods slammed Texas Hill Country, with water rescues taking place along the Guadalupe River. A dozen are still missing from Camp Mystic in Kerr County, a children's summer camp, officials said Sunday.

With more rain on the way, the risk of life-threatening flooding was still high in central Texas on Monday even as crews search urgently for the missing following a holiday weekend deluge that killed at least 82 people,

Amanda Jones of Anderson was camping along the Guadalupe River near Kerrville with her husband, four children, and three dogs when storms began moving through the area late Thursday night. They arrived at their campsite on July 3 around 3 p.m. and had settled in by early evening, pitching their tent roughly 20 yards from a tributary of the river.

A Texas father of two, Julian Ryan, is being hailed as a hero after sacrificing his life amid the Texas Hill Country floods to save his family. Reportedly, Ryan almost lost his arm to carry out his selfless sacrifice.
