WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said China had violated an agreement on tariffs with the United States. "China, perhaps not surprisingly to some, HAS TOTALLY VIOLATED ITS AGREEMENT WITH US. So much for being Mr. NICE GUY!," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

That was the question in front of the federal courts that ruled against President Trump’s tariffs in the last couple days. The judges weren’t deciding whether the tariffs are good for the country but whether the president has the power to impose them all by himself.

An appeals court ruled President Donald Trump can continue to levy tariffs while challenging a court order that had blocked them, a quick reversal that allows Trump to keep wielding his trademark economic tool in the short term.
