Pelletier was a recent graduate of Fuquay-Varina High School in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, WTVD reported. Pelletier was last seen on August 1 while on a family vacation in Englewood, Florida, before leaving around 1:30 a.m. to travel with his cousins toward Brevard County to visit more family, according to the CCSO.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey says nothing from the missing person investigation so far indicates that 18-year-old Giovanni Pelletier ever came to Brevard County. The teen has now been missing for eight days.

Giovanni Pelletier, missing since Aug 1 in Manatee County, was found dead, his mother confirmed. Cause of death remains under investigation.
