A federal judge held Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier in civil contempt for sending a letter to local police suggesting he couldn’t prevent them from disobeying her order pausing a new immigration law.

It seemed inevitable that U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams would hold state Attorney General James Uthmeier in contempt of court after he violated her order to stop enforcing a new law that makes it a crime for undocumented immigrants to enter Florida.

A federal judge has found Florida's attorney general to be in civil contempt over her ruling that put on hold a new state law making it a misdemeanor for people living in the U.S. illegally to enter the state.
