With the threat of punishing tariffs still hovering over the Canadian economy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the government will host a Canada-U.S. Economic Summit later this week, aimed at increasing investment and easing internal trade barriers.

Canadian business and labor leaders will meet in Toronto this Friday to discuss diversifying trade and boosting the economy in the wake of U.S. threats to impose tariffs, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced the Canada-U.S. Economic Summit, a landmark event hosted with members of the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations to galvanize business and investment across Canada. The Summit will take place in Toronto, Ontario, on February 7, 2025.
