The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved Verizon’s proposed $20 billion acquisition of Frontier Communications. The deal has been approved by the regulator after Verizon agreed to end its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs (DEI).

Verizon Communications Inc. won Federal Communications Commission approval for its $9.6-billion acquisition of Frontier Communications Parent Inc. after agreeing to agency demands to pare back diversity initiatives in line with President Donald Trump’s policies.

Verizon’s $ 20 billion deal to acquire the fiber internet provider Frontier is officially happening. On Friday, the Federal Communications Commission signed off on the merger, which will allow Verizon to “upgrade and expand” Frontier’s existing fiber networks.
